Sociology

Sociology is the study of human social activities, particularly the study of the origins, institutions, organizations, and growth of human society. It is a social science which employs different methods of empirical investigation and critical analysis to build up a body of knowledge about human social actions, social functions and structure. A goal for many sociologists is to carry out investigation which may be applied directly to social policy and welfare, while others focus mainly on refining the theoretical understanding of social processes. Subject matter ranges from the micro level of individual agency and interaction to the macro level of individual agency and interaction to the macro level social structure and systems.
